RNG abuse is a series of techniques that allow you to manipulate the game's internal random number generator in order to obtain the perfect Pokémon. Huge thanks to Mutty99 for their help in solving my issue. With the proper SID, I got the shiny Heatran rather quickly. Turns out I had forgotten to input my TID when calculating my SID from the Roselia's IVs. From what I've found around here, it looks like I'll have to try a different seed.Įdit: I finally got it. It had the exact gender, Nature, and IVs (and thus Hidden Power), but it wasn't shiny. I suppose next time I'll try five Chatot cries to see if I still end up three frames later than I should be.Įdit: I tried again with five Chatot cries and hit the right frame. Somehow, I found myself on the eleventh frame. Taking Mutty99's advice, I noted down this Heatran's information to find out where I ended up. Is there anything I might be doing wrong? Perhaps there's a common beginner's mistake I made?Įdit: Taking Kbxe1991's advice, I used Chatot an eighth time before interacting with Heatran. I listened to Chatot seven times, then battled Heatran.

After some trial and error setting the delays for EonTimer, I hit the right delay on the right second, which I knew because I got the coin flips right. I input the seed and set the desired seconds to 23. Once I had the seed I wanted (no lead, eighth frame, shiny) and made sure it was the same between RNG Reporter and 4th Generation Time Finder, I went to Seed to Times. Since Heatran has a 50/50 gender ratio, I set that as well. As long as its shiny, I don't care about the nature or IVs. I selected Method J and did not set any desired stats.

Does this affect it?įor my setup, I followed the instructions in How to RNG Abuse Stationary Pokemon in D/P/Pt. Upon starting the game, my journal opens to a page saying I caught Chatot. I read somewhere that flipping through it to a page where it says a Pokemon was caught advances the frame by 2. Something that I thought might be affecting it is the journal. I thought the Chatot pitches matched on at least PokeFinder, but apparently not. I tried this, hitting the right seed on both, but didn't get the shiny.

If I understand this correctly, I should listen to Chatot seven times, then battle Heatran. I had Shiny Only selected, since that's what I was looking for, but found I did not want that selected (not that it matters since I can't tell the difference between medium, medium-low, and medium-high).Ĭoincidentally, both results were on the eighth frame advance. I didn't initially understand how to show the Chatot pitches leading up to it. I've tried both RNG Reporter and PokeFinder.

to try to make my remaining legendaries shiny. From what I understand, the secret ID I found is in a range of n to n+7, but it's fine since shininess doesn't care about the last three bits. I just happened to find a shiny Roselia a couple days ago and found out I could manipulate other shinies if I got my secret ID from it. I should preface this by stating I did not manipulate my trainer ID or my secret ID.
